- Over R12,000 worth of prizes up for grabs including a GT mountain bike
- 3 feature courses to choose from: 20km, 30km and 50km
- The 30km & 50km courses are brand new taking in some fantastic new sections of Longmore forest
- The 20km course is based on the the same route as the Scott Ayton race earlier this year - with stunning scenery including a spectacular view of the Loerie Dam
- Kiddies race with Father Christmas making an appearance on a .... wait for it... MOUNTAIN BIKE UNICYCLE!!
- Great play centre for the kiddies
- Easily accessible venue, just 5km from the N2 (Hankey turnoff)
The course descriptions are as follows:
20km Race - This is a short but challenging 20km course (CSA license is NOT required to ride the 20km race)
From the start you will climb for 1km before turning left and heading down into a valley. Then you have a gentle, steady climb along a jeep track road which does a loop in the forest before merging back onto the main gravel road. From here you climb for another 2km.
The good news is that you’re now at the highest point on the course with most of the climbing behind you.
Turn left off the main road into the old forest where you’ll get to appreciate the shade of the tall pine trees for a few km.
Once out of the forest you ride along a contour road with stunning views of the ocean and Loerie Dam.
Just a few more ups and downs, then join up with the road passing the saw mill.
300m from the finish, you enter a lovely flowing downhill singletrack which spits you out onto the road just before the finish line.

30km Race - We’ve added the option of a 30km loop for those riders who may be looking for a slightly longer ride.
Although longer, it is less hilly (in terms of average climbing) than the 20km route. This route follows the more well-used Longmore forest roads so the ground surface is mostly smooth and easy going. Exceptions are the short climb past the waterfall (150m) which will see most riders engaging granny gear to get to the top. The road here is a bit bumpy and rocky – but its over before you know it and the sight and sound of the waterfall right next to you is a welcome distraction.
The 30km course has the most singletrack – but it’s all flat or slightly downhill, easy flowing singletrack (nothing scary at all)
The climbing is spread out quite evenly over the distance of the course with the highest point being reached at the 27km mark. From there you'll be rewarded with a 3km downhill to the finish - including 2 sections of amazing flowing forest singletrack.

50km Race - The Surf & Turf option
For riders with an appetite for Longmore hills. The 50km combines both of the shorter loops, ensuring you get the best of everything.
Enjoy the ocean views of the 20km and the wide open mountain views of the 30km course.

We do need some volunteers to help with marshaling and manning water points at the race. Remember you receive a free entry into the next Fat Tracks if you or a family member / friend volunteers to help at a Fat Tracks race.
