Fat Tracks Mountain bike club raise funds for local charity
Since the club was formed in 1989 Fat Tracks has been involved in nature conservation and charity organisations. This year the Spur Schools Mountain bike series was used to not only develop mountain biking amongst the youth, but also to raise R15 000 for The Shepherd’s field Rehablitation Centre in Port Elizabeth. A special thanks to our sponsors: Merrell Norm-Hudlin; Momsen bikes; Sunridge Spar; Mountain Events; Teloc; Spur and Ama Rider. With the help of the sponsors we could afford to put on a real quality event for our young riders with a minimal entry fee and raise funds.
The vision of Shepherd’s Field is to effectively rebuild lives that were destroyed by substance dependency and to regain & rebuild trust that was lost through substance abuse. The emphasis is on providing affordable rehabilitation treatment services to all people. This is no easy task and the Centre is always busy with new initiatives to help create an income.
