Fattracks at XC National on 7 May 2011

Well done to all who were brave enough to participate against some of the best in S.A. I heard someone say: “All you had to do to get a medal is enter”.  Totally wrong and not the case at all!  The very quick lap times support this statement.  I must also point out that between five of the EP team members they received more than thirteen podiums at national events in the past 16 months!  Fattracks and EP have reason to be very proud about the high standard of our riders.

The EP team who took part consisted of Errol Black; Charl Joubert; Dawid and Annelize Ferreira; Heidi Koen; Andrea von Holdt; Jason Meaton;  Bonani Xatasi; Sebastian Venter;  Matthew Hayter;  George Smith;  Stephen Pettit and Marco Joubert.

Congratulations to all our medal winners.  Errol who has been up at the top for ages took gold once more as well as Andrea our own World Champs Bronze medalist.  Heidi and Annelize rounded off the medals for ladies with a silver and bronze.  Dawid had a very good race and was rewarded with gold. Marco got silver and is moving closer to the top spot.  He rode very impressive lap times and at a very young age (13) was the fastest EP rider over three laps, except for Jason who is still our top local XC rider.  The standard among the young riders is very high and well done to our juniors for being prepared to take the “Pro’s” on.  You are improving all the time and we realize the huge effort you are putting in.  Good luck to Matthew; Jason; Sebastian and George who are doing the national XC events this year.

Graham Taylor and Rayno Peo could not make the EP selection race and therefore were not EP team members but they deserved to be!  Graham performed excellent and took the gold for Vet men.  Rayno always ride strong and proved it once again by finishing second in his age category.
